A mesmerising example of Hiroshi Yoshida’s delicate gradation and colours. A cluster of sailboats drifts out to sea in the early morning, their silhouettes contrasting against the warm glow of the rising sun. Yoshida’s restrained detail, rendering the human figures almost invisible, creates a dreamlike atmosphere, where sky, land, and ocean blend into one. The sailboats appear to float gently across the scene, as if drawn towards the sun, just out of view.
This is an early lifetime edition as indicated by Yoshida's "Jizuri" or "Self Printed" seal, and pencil signature on the lower margin. A comparable edition can be found in the collection of the Minneapolis Institute of Art.
