Chikayoshi (1865-1871)

Chikayoshi, also known by his pen name Gokyoro, was a prominent woodblock print artist in the 19th century, working under the guidance of ukiyo-e master Toyohara Kunichika. Specialising in actor and beauty prints, Chikayoshi's artistic contributions are notable despite limited historical documentation. Often mistaken for the female woodblock designer of the same name, Chikayoshi's works bear the distinctive signature "Gokyoro Chikayoshi hitsu," showcasing his enduring influence within the realm of Japanese woodblock art.
