Yoshimori II (1854-1887)
Yoshimori II, born in 1854 as Masaki Fukumatsu, began his career as an artist by joining the school of Yoshimori I in 1866. He adopted the artist name Morimasa, while also working under the name Yoshimorisai Kuniharu. Upon his master's death, he inherited the title of Yoshimori II with the honourific Ikkosai, marking his progression as a distinguished woodblock print artist.
Beyond his contributions to the world of ukiyo-e, Yoshimori II applied his talents to creating singboard illustrations for Asakusa Tokiwaya, a shop known for its commercial signage. His life in Tokyo saw him residing first in the Shitaya Kurumazakacho district before moving to Asakusa Senzokumachi, reflecting a career deeply interwoven with the city's artistic and commercial communities.
